Attraverso le sapienti parole delle guide ufficiali tutto il fascino di Firenze acquisterà un significato carico di emozione che renderà indimenticabile la vostra vacanza.
“I was in a sort of ecstasy from the idea of being in Florence, close to the great men whose tombs I had seen. Absorbed in the contemplation of sublime beauty… I reached the point where one encounters celestial sensations. Everything spoke so vividly to my soul… Life was drained from me. I walked with the fear of falling…”
(The French writer Stendhal was so dizzied by the beauty of Florence that he became faint, a reaction now known as “Stendhal’s Syndrome”)
Firenze, the city of Brunelleschi, Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, is the birthplace of the Renaissance. In that period the destiny of the city was indissolubly linked with the Medicis, the most powerful and influential Florentine family from the XVth to XVIIIth centuries.
The best place to begin our Florentine tour is really San Marco Square (two minutes far from the hotel). This part of the city was in fact for a long time the symbol of Medicis power and the site of the famous San Marco Garden where the young Michelangelo learned to sculpture, and nowadays is a significant zone with marvellous monuments, splendid palaces and statues.
- Medici Tour: discovering the secrets of the colourful Medici dynasty, with its intrigues and passions
Our itinerary starts from the San Marco Square, an important centre of Medici power and it goes up the old Via Larga, where they decided to built their gorgeous palace. We cross a lovely and crowded square to admire the Church of San Lorenzo, transformed into a kind of private family chapel by Brunelleschi (several members of Medici family are in fact buried here).

- Renaissance itinerary: the Filippo Brunelleschi’s architecture marked the start of a glorious season
Our itinerary takes us first to the Ospedale degli Innocenti, Foundling Hospital, built between 1419 and 1426 by this architect. It represents the essence of Brunelleschi style: perfect proportions, elegant arches, classical columns. We procede down Via dei Servi and we finally arrive at the Brunelleschi masterpiece: the gigantic dome over the Cathedral. This immense structure with a diameter of 45.5 metres was finished in 1436 and became the focal point of the Florentine skyline.

- Michelangelo itinerary: Michelangelo Buonarroti was considered the greatest living artist in his lifetime, and ever since then he has been held to be one of the greatest artists of all time
Our itinerary starts at Piazza San Marco: here there was the site of the famous accademia called San Marco Garden and founded by Lorenzo il Magnifico, where the young artist learned to sculpture. Proceeding down Via Cavour, on the back part of the Medici Palace is located the interesting San Lorenzo Church and the New Sacresty, built and decorated with beautiful statues by Michelangelo. After we finally arrive in front of Palazzo della Signoria, where the Michelangelo’s masterpiece, the David, was originally placed.
